Sips N Strokes

Tonight I went to Sips N Strokes with a bunch of girls.  You bring a drink of your choice and an artist teaches you how to create a work of art.  So much fun.  We all want to go back.  Check out the pictures...

Because it was requested...

Because I know that Nathan will be upset, I'll off-set the awfulness of the picture by telling a story that Nathan loves.  On our overseas flight to Italy for our honeymoon, we were settling in our seats and the lights were dimmed for sleep.  Flight attendants were going up and down the aisles offering pillows and blankets.  When the attendant got to us, HE hesitated for a second and then leaned over to Nathan and whispered, "Has anyone ever told you that you look just like Justin Timberlake?"  Nathan won't ever let me forget.  We downloaded a Justin song yesterday and I was telling Nathan how I think he's smart and talented and that he'll be around for a long time.  Nathan casually reminded me about the look-alike story.  Check out the picture I found...

Tour of Homes

Nathan and I quickly drove through a new neighborhood out on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail this morning, and then I returned and went into one model house later this afternoon.  I'm absolutely in love with the small cottages they have built.  Here are some pictures I took.  The first picture is a larger model but we like the dark shingles with the white trim and stone work.  The interior pictures are from the small house.  Some of the pictures are detail shots of cool ideas.  The house is pretty small but so cute.

Nathan's New Shades

Nathan was bold and bought these aviators yesterday.  I told him that he looked a little creepy wearing them when he had his facial hair.  He really didn't want me to put this picture up but it makes me laugh.  I think he might shave.  (BTW...I have a much creepier picture of him in these glasses but he would kill me if I posted it.  I made him pull the glasses down a little and give me a serious look over them.)

Because I Love Tiffany...

Recently, I've been helping Tiffany with her summer job.  She's the Auburn representative for this really great interior design company called Moxii.  They sell dorm/apartment stuff.  Check it out at www.moxii.com.  I want to get the stuff for my house.  Anyway, I've been going to Camp War Eagle with Tiffany trying to promote the company.  Camp War Eagle is the freshman orientation at the university.  Lots of booths are set up in the student center and students and their parents flood through collecting freebies.  We try to grab as many as we can and talk to them about the company.  Tiffany is a natural sales-woman, but it doesn't come as easily to me.  I get pretty peppy once a week for an hour for Tiffany and her 10% commission.  Here are a few pictures...that's Tiffany.  We set up and break down this booth each time.   Cute stuff.

Pedicure

LaDonna took me to get my first pedicure today.  I was so jealous of my toddler niece Molly who got one last week.  Tiffany and Jill met us there also.  Here's my pretty toes.  I'm definitely going back...

Still Packing

The piles of boxes are getting larger.  It feels good to get something accomplished, but I have just three more weeks to get the entire trailer packed.  I am now a professional at gathering free boxes.  The ladies at the local liquor store HATE me.  They roll their eyes every time I come in and take boxes and don't buy liquor.  Maybe on my last trip I'll make a big purchase...the only problem is that I'll just have to take another box so I can pack it.

I think almost half of my boxes say this.  Nathan and I can't stop buying books, and we definitely can't throw them away or give them away.

Chadwick's Wedding

Last night, I rode with Ryan and Tiffany to Demopolis for Chad and Melanie's wedding.  They had a sweet ceremony and the reception was at a old house in downtown Demopolis.  The food was inside and the tables and tent were outside.  It was very pretty.  They served good Southern food like fried green tomatoes, grit balls, etc.  So yummy.  Here are a few pictures from the night...

Melanie and Chad on the dance floor.

Ryan and Tiffany.

More dancing.

All of the AJHS teachers with Chad.

Mrs. Ann with the groom.

John and Kim Pennisi.  When I went inside for cake, I went straight to the groom's cake because it was chocolate.  John looked at my plate and said, "You've made a huge mistake."  Tiffany and I then decided that we would get two pieces of cake.  We looked silly.

Something To Read

I just finished Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer.  Katie had recommended this book to me in the past, and it made her list of her favorite books of all time.  (We both made a list for Tiffany who requested "Must Read" lists from both of us.  I'll be sure to post those lists as well.)  Anyway, the book is about 9/11 and normally I would hate anything sentimental or sappy.  But this book was amazing.  It follows a little boy who finds a mysterious key in his father's closet.  (His father died on 9/11.)  The key is in an envelope that says Black on it.  He goes on a door to door journey though New York City trying to find the lock that matches this key.  He visits almost every Black in the phonebook.  The book is filled with photographs and pictures Oskar sees during this journey.  So good...check it out.

Going Away Party

LaDonna (more on her below), Phil (Meg's husband), and Meg.

The guests of honor - Baylor and myself.  Tiffany made us wear these ridiculous bras.
Thanks Tiff!

Katie and Rex enjoying the yummy food.  Katie is the most amazing cook I know.  She made lemon curd for this party even though you can buy it pre-made...that's how she rolls.

Ryan, Bo, Melanie (Chad's fiancee), and Mr. Powell (LaDonna's husand).
