Here's What Happening in October!

Here's part of the eleven acres that we are in the process of buying. To the right, there are about five acres of woods. Bruce has recently mown a path through the woods, so every time we go out to Utica, we walk through the woods with Graham and his new Baby Bjorn. He LOVES it. We can't wait to build a house in this field so Graham can enjoy this view every day.

Great Grandmother Lucy turned 81 this month. The celebration wasn't as big as her surprise 80th birthday party, but we had a nice Chinese dinner. I wish I had a close-up of the cookie cake. Nathan and I decorated it with icing from Kroger. Lucy praised our talent - I think that's what Grandmother's are supposed to do.

Took our first overnight trip to Lexington this past weekend to visit AJ and Jenny, and Graham attended his first UK tailgate. After walking down the ramp in the parking deck, the boys discovered that the cooler full of beer and ice was pretty heavy. Solution - put Graham in the carrier and the cooler in the stroller. Genius! We were judged all the way to the stadium.

Happy Halloween!

KWC vs. Big Blue All-Stars

This Sunday, our local college KWC played the "Big Blue All-Stars" which consisted of NBA players who are from KY/played for KY. Rex Chapman was the coach...he went to my elementary and high schools. Other notables on the all-star team included Cousins, Knight, Harrellson, and Liggins. Graham almost made it through the entire game, but we ended up walking around for the last ten minutes or so. The game was pretty fun; neither team was playing extreme defense. The final score was 134-118; Cousins scored 48 alone. A lot of the all-star players goofed around - Cousins at one point picked up a ref that called a foul on him. When a KWC player lost his shoe, Cousins grabbed it and acted like he was going to throw it into the crowd, but Harrellson came to the rescue and put it back on the KWC player.

Graham was far more interested in the game.

99th Percentile for Weight

As I was making a cup of tea in the kitchen tonight, I heard Nathan cracking up in the nursery with Graham. I turned around and this is what was waiting for me in the window between the kitchen and living room...

Graham is a puker. We use approximately six or seven burp rags a day. Pretty much one for every time he eats. He doesn't just spit up after eating though; it's a constant flow. We had just changed Graham into the pajamas above (last outfit was covered in spit-up) when he let go a stream of regurgitated milk down his chest. Nathan said, "When will we learn?" Nathan took Graham to change him again but decided it would just be easier to stuff the burp rag into his pjs. (FYI - As I'm typing this, Graham is spitting up on Nathan during "tummy time" on Nathan's chest.)

Apple Festival

So this blog post is interactive. Just like you used to do in the back of the Highlights magazine, you need to find the differences between the first and second photo. They were both taken at Reid's Apple Festival on Saturday. Answer is below...

HI-YO! There are exactly two differences between the pictures - the left boob and the right boob. My brother Scott took these pictures, and he said he saw her when he was taking it. Rather than make our family portrait beautiful, he just laughed and took the picture anyway. At least the first one is sans cleavage.

Mini Harvest 2011

The mini harvest of the Norton grapes is always my favorite harvest. Fewer people, fewer grapes, not as crazy.

Our buddies Lacey and Andy.

Big Events in the Big O

The Big Blue Bridge that connects Owensboro to Indiana has been closed for a few months for repairs, but on the day before its re-opening, they let pedestrians on it. Nathan and I were working, but Graham got to walk across the famous Blue Bridge with Aunt Erin. I like this picture because in the background you can see the wall that's going up on the Owensboro riverfront. Can't wait for downtown construction to finish!

Brendan is a senior (crazy), and his soccer Senior Night was a few weeks ago. They had really cute recordings of each boy talking about their favorite memories from high school and their future plans as they walked across the field with their parents. It was sweet. FYI - Eric is carrying a pitchfork because Brendan's mascot is a red devil.

Growing Up - 10 Weeks Old

Getting ready to head to the Bistro for brunch. This is quickly becoming a Saturday tradition. Graham will sit or snooze in his stroller while we enjoy omelets and biscuits.

Graham has FINALLY decided that he likes a pacifier. He watched an entire episode of Up All Night with us. Thirty minutes of no screaming or walking around bouncing. Things are looking up.

Happy baby in the morning after being unzipped from his Woombie. Still sleeping in this seat next to me in bed. I'm still a little nervous about putting him downstairs in his crib. It's so far away, and he's just a little guy. And look how much he loves waking up next to me every morning!

Nathan and Graham look exactly alike! Graham has my round head and dark eyes...that's it.
