Trip to Lexington

So Nathan and I decided to make an overnight trip to Lexington this weekend.  The thing that really pushed us to go was that our friend Kerry was having a "Back to School Bonanza" at his house which is lovingly called Edgemoor Manor.  Somehow, he and about six other guys stumbled upon a lawyer who was waiting for this huge house to be rezoned so she could make it her law office.  While she's waiting, she asked these guys to rent it.  It's pretty big.  The party was fun with Corn Hole and Farkle but we were definitely the oldest people there.  No biggie

Here was our agenda...lots of food involved:

Saturday:
- Left Owensboro early with chocolate long-johns.
- Arrived in Lexington at lunch time and at at Good Foods...Nathan's favorite co-op.
- Book shopping at Joseph Beth.
- Delivered tomatoes and wine to Erin.
- UK Bookstore where we bought new football t-shirts.  Excited about October game in Auburn.
- Harry's bar where we had beer and a little sushi as a snack.
- A little shopping, check into hotel, nap.
- Dinner with AJ and Jenny at Bella Notte.  This is where Nathan took me to eat before he proposed.  Love it!
- Party at Kerrys.

Sunday:
- HUGE breakfast at Ramseys.
- Walk around campus and arboretum.
- Drive home.

Eating at my favorite Italian restaurant.

This is Nathan's college apartment.  It is now a tattoo parlor called "Bleed Blue Tattoo."  Cool name.  Nathan's bedroom is below the blue sign on the right.

Rubbing President Patterson's foot on campus...this gives you good luck before finals.

Memorial Hall...UK's big landmark.  This building's outline is in between the U and the K on all of the logos.  I had some classes in this auditorium.

New Classroom

Here's me in my new room. I actually have a nice dry-erase board...I love it and use it all the time. I do miss my SmartBoard though.

View from my desk. I've got an awesome shelf over on the red wall that holds all of the junk.

That's my desk in the back corner. I don't have a SmartBoard but I do have a document camera which I really like. Rather than making copies of something, I just put it under the document camera and it's projected onto the big screen.

I know what you're thinking..."That curtain is amaaazzing!" I made it.

Concert on the Lawn

Last night, Nathan and I went to Concert on the Lawn with Bruce and Susie and Nathan's Grandmother Lucy and her friend Avery.  This is an annual event in Owensboro where the Symphony plays on the front lawn of Kentucky Wesleyan College.  Susie set up a table and chairs, and we ate chicken salad and real salad and listened to some good music.  My favorite pieces they performed were a Puccini mix and music from The Music Man.  The theme this year was "Hot Nights, Cool Jazz" but it got down into the lower sixties and it was cold.  I've included a picture of my socks and sandals just for Tiffany because I know she would NOT approve.

Life in Utica, KY

The back porch of the house.

Greta in the backyard.

The view out the back window.

Barn with vineyard sign.

The vineyard.  Harvest is Sept. 26th.

Some of the animals...

Gracie (AKA Fatty).  We're trying to get her to live outside.  Nathan thought it would be fun to get pictures of him holding all of the animals.

Greta - obviously bored but shiny after a bath last night.  She was somehow covered in cow poop even though there aren't cows close to the house.  Hmmm.

Blackie the rooster.  I love him...he yells at me at 5:00am.

And Millie.  We're taking her to my mom's church tonight for a "petting zoo."

Kate, who currently has heartworms.  She's trying to get better.  She'll be okay.

Pictures of Family

That's my niece Molly on the left with her friend Meg. My brother and his friends took their daughters "camping" in a park in Shelbyville a few weeks ago.

In the middle is my oldest nephew Brendan...this was the front page of the Owensboro paper yesterday. I love that he's playing frisbee with a cell phone in his hand.
