Grape Harvest 2010: Part 1

Lots of workers turned out for the last minute harvest on Sunday. Since we had such a hot summer, the grapes were ready about three weeks earlier than expected. Nathan and I were in Utica by 9AM, and by 10 we were rolling up the netting that covers the grapes. (Not fun.) Jim drove down from Bloomington to help, and it was good getting to talk to him all day. We're having a mini-harvest on the 25th, but there won't be too many grapes left to pick. Check out the Browns Valley Vineyard page on Facebook for more pictures.

Sister and brother. Erin just left town to begin her journey to California for her AmeriCorps job in the Mojave.

Nathan's mom cutting some grapes.

Danny, Bruce, Dan, and Jim loading bins of grapes into the wagon attached to the tractor.

Pretty butterfly...they were everywhere!

I think this is Bruce giving orders, one of which was, "Someone get me another beer."

On the tractor together.
