Katie's Un-Birthday

This weekend, I went to Sea Grove, Florida with my friend Katie and her husband. The trip was planned to celebrate Katie's birthday, but she's a leap-year baby. Technically, Katie is only seven, but she kept telling people she was seven and one quarter. We drove down Friday morning and enjoyed lunch in Seaside. Afterwards, we went to the beach to read but we had to cover up in blankets. I called Scott to meet us for dinner and after some driving around, we ended up at a place called Stinky's. It was delicious. Scott ordered an appetizer that was the best I've ever had. It was a whole squash cut in half and fried then filled with crab meat and tomatoes and a cream sauce. Yum. On Saturday, Katie and I got up early and walked to Seaside to get some breakfast. We sat outside the coffee shop for a long time, talking to people in town for the half-marathon on Sunday and playing with the dogs who were searching for dropped food under the tables. Then we covered every inch of Seaside on foot. We went up and down every street reading the names of the homes and the names of the owners. My favorite names for homes were Rivendale and Bag End. (Those are from The Lord of the Rings.) We ate lunch at Bud and Alley's and then returned for a nap. Scott met us again for dinner, and we had tapas in Seaside. While in Florida, we missed the tornado in Auburn on Saturday and the snowstorm on Sunday. Unfortunately, we still had school on Monday. Here are a few pictures from the weekend...Happy Un-Birthday Katie!
